Onlykey slots not putting out correct text

My onlykey failed on me this morning. I’ve only had it 4 days. I got to work this morning and tried to login to Windows, it showed only 2 characters input and failed. I logged in manually and opened a text document and tried all my buttons. None of them were working properly. They all have the correct labels in the Onlykey app, but none of them spit out more than 5 characters, and those characters are unrecognizable.

They did spit out the same characters every time for each slot. The only thing that worked properly was the one-click lockout on slot 6a.

These are the steps I took to troubleshoot::
-Restored a backup - failed
-Flashed firmware - failed
-Restored backup after firmware flash - failed
-Performed regular data wipe and reinitialized, restored backup - Success

I have a personal onlykey as well that is working without any issues. Only the work key has problems.

Any ideas what happened? This isn’t a viable security option if it fails so readily.

@darksense If you cannot restore or load firmware then that sounds like hardware failure. Can you verify that you tried to load firmware on your device using instructions here - https://docs.crp.to/upgradeguide.html#loading-onlykey-firmware

What was the result when you tried to do this?

Yes, I followed that guide for reloading firmware.

Let me clarify my previous post…When I said “failed”, I meant that the key continued to output incorrect text, not that the firmware update failed. The original restore worked, but the key still wasn’t outputting the correct text, etc.

The key is working again properly right now, but the step to get it to work was to do a regular data wipe and reinitialize. They key itself just went wonky. So the question is, why did the key fail and have to be reinitialized to get it working again?
Thanks.

@darksense If your key is intermittently working that sounds like hardware failure. You have a 30 day warranty I would recommend getting a replacement.
