The USB-A connector component does not show up when plugged into my Framework Laptop 16. No entries show up in dmesg, and lsusb does not show the device. It works just fine with USB-C, but not USB-A.
I tested on my desktop PC as well, and the USB-A connector is working just fine there. On both laptop and desktop, the USB +D shows 3.3V, but nothing on D-. The power pin is a solid 5V. LEDs light up, PIN unlock works, but nothing shows up in my operating system (NixOS).
I’ve added the suggested udev rules and, in my case, the NixOS config. The Framework Laptop uses a USB-A expansion card. It works with various USB devices, including a USB2 drive I tested.
The DUO USB-C connector is just direct wires from the 4 USB-A connectors. Its a USB-C adapter. Can you try USB-A on another computer? That is odd that USB-C would work and not USB-A because its just an adapter.
If that works can you try a USB-A hub plugged into the non working USB-A port with OnlyKey DUO plugged into the hub? If that works then maybe the DUO just isn’t making a good connection in that particular port for some reason.
I don’t have a USB hub readily on me but if I’m not mistaken the multimeter readings I took should indicate that a solid connection is being made to the USB pins
