I’m using OnlyKey as a password manager but want to set up 2FA. The guide says OATH app is best if you are not a guru. I’m not. It says you need to download the Google authenticator app to your phone (if I understood correctly) Is there some way to do this by downloading the app to a laptop as I rarely logon with my phone.

You don’t need to download the google authenticator app. This is how you would use OATH-TOTP without OnlyKey. You could use the app or other apps like Authy in addition to OnlyKey to have a backup method of generating your TOTP codes. You just have to follow the instructions here to set this up on your OnlyKey OnlyKey User's Guide | Docs
