Slots showing NOTSET when used on computer without Onlykey software (Solved)

I used my key on a new computer today and slots 4, 5, 6 weren’t working. I verified in notepad and it showed NOTSET for all these slots. This is happening for both the A and B slot sets. Slots 1, 2, 3 work fine. I have all slots set on both A and B slot sets.

I then realized I didn’t have the onlykey software installed on that computer, so I verified on my main computer that has the software installed, and it works properly. All slots are working as long as the software is installed.

This is a problem since the key is unusable on other computers (I am in IT and log into different computers all the time.) This is also a problem because it suggests the software is somehow logging the passwords, or is part of the decryption process, which shouldn’t be happening. The key should be completely independent.

I bought 2 keys for home and they are both having the same problem. My work key works fine. The work key had a hardware failure and was recovered by a regular wipe. Are the other keys experiencing a hardware failure too? Just in a slightly different way? This makes 3 keys from the same purchase having issues.

One requirement of TOTP (Time-based One-time Password) is having the correct time. If OnlyKey is used on a system where the OnlyKey app is not running it will type out “NOTSET” instead of the OTP code.

However, OnlyKey TOTP will work on-the-go without the app running. All you have to do is browse to our web app https://apps.crp.to in Google Chrome or Firefox. This web app in addition to being used to send encrypted messages sets the current time on OnlyKey and login with TOTP will function as normal

OK, that’s the issue. I remember seeing something about that in the user guide. I tried searching the guide, but the search functionality is very limited. CTRL+F works though.

Thank you.
